3rd Grade had the first picnic of the year! Mrs Nasi and Miss Rachael joined the class for lunch.

We would like to thank the new owners of the Northwoods General Store & Coffeehouse for the delicious cookies and breakfast burritos they brought to school today in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week! The staff really enjoyed them. We welcome the new owners to our community!

We would like to thank Horace Mann Insurance for the delicious cake they delivered to school earlier this week. It was greatly appreciated!

The varsity track meet in Baraga scheduled for today (Thursday, May 2nd) has been cancelled due to weather.

The 4th grade class visited the JW Toumey Nursery and the Ottawa National Forest Visitor Center to learn about trees on Arbor Day. 🌲🌳

We celebrate Earth Day in art each year by recycling paper, discussing how paper is made, and we learn about litter. Students love to see where our trash goes and have many questions about trash.

The Wakefield-Marenisco School District is currently accepting applications for a driver's education instructor beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. The candidate must be fully certified to teach driver's education to teenage drivers in Michigan. Interested candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and their credentials by 3:00 p.m. on May 13th, 2024. The Gogebic Miners Baseball double header scheduled with Calumet for tonight has been postponed. The make-up date will be on Monday, May 6th in Bessemer at 3:00 & 5:00 PM CST.

We would like to congratulate the Wakefield-Marenisco School class of 2024 valedictorian and salutatorian! Our valedictorian is Kayla Zeckovich. Kayla has earned a 4.0 G.P.A. and plans to attend Gogebic Community College studying radiology. Our salutatorian is Travis Bachand. Travis has earned a 3.98 G.P.A. Travis plans to enter the workforce in the field of machining.

The 5th Grade class made various items to sell in order to raise money to buy pet hermit crabs. They voted to get a class pet and the hermit crab won! The students researched the care of hermit crabs and made a list of all the items they would need. They also discovered that a hermit crab needs a friend in order to be happy. Through selling items for two weeks, over $300 was made to buy a wonderful habitat for Mr. Krabs and Hermie.
