Homecoming Week continues! Today is pink day for high school!

Here is the ballot language for our upcoming sinking fund proposal. Please vote on November 5th!

Line up at 5:30. The parade will begin to 6:00 with coronation to follow immediately after in the gym There will be a dance for 7th-12th grade from 8:00PM- 11:00PM The homecoming volleyball game is Thursday, October 3 vs. Jeffers at 4:30PM (JV start) 🏐 The homecoming football game is Saturday, October 5 in Wakefield vs. Crystal Falls-Forest Park at 1:00PM 🏈

The Wakefield-Marenisco School is proposing a millage of 1 mil ($1 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) on the November 5th ballot. The proposal is for a sinking fund. The sinking fund would be similar to the recently expired sinking fund. This sinking fund would be able to have funds used for school safety, technology, transportation, and building and grounds improvements. The recently expired sinking fund was only able to be used for building and grounds improvements. Over the next few weeks, we will post pictures of some of the projects the sinking fund was used for in the past. The first photo is of the press box on the athletic field.

Fitness and Conditioning students were able to take a field trip to the Gogebic Country Club today for a round of golf. All of the students did a great job and applied the practice they have been doing during class. Thank you to our chaperones and the country club for having us!

Upcoming Sinking Fund Millage

Students in Fitness and Conditioning had the chance to try out our new golf curriculum today. We all had a great time and are looking forward to developing our skills further!

Internal and External Posting The Wakefield-Marenisco School District is currently accepting applications for the following position: • Part-Time Lunchroom Worker 1 hour 30 minutes per day 11:15 – 12:45 Monitor students, serve lunch, supervise grades 4-6 outside or in the lunchroom, wipe tables and seats as needed, fold up lunch table, help with cleaning and empty/replace garbage bags, take lunch garbage to dumpster, clean garbage cans, clean lunchroom as needed. We are currently hiring substitute teachers. The rate of pay is $125 per day. If you have 60 college credits and are interested in being a sub, please contact the school.

Construction has begun on the replacement of our gym windows. We ask that you use extreme caution in the school parking lot and around the gym area as construction workers work to update our building. We would like to send a huge thank you to the two community members who gifted nearly $500,000 to the school for the gym window project. Most of the windows on the gym are original to the building and are nearly 100 years old! Thank you for your patience as we work to update our beautiful school building. Timing may not be ideal, but we are at the mercy of construction companies and lead time for ordering products. It may look messy for a bit, but will look fantastic when it is complete!

Our annual Back to School Open House will take place on Wednesday, August 21st from 4:00pm-6:00pm. All students and families are invited to attend.
