The Wakefield-Marenisco Music Boosters is a volunteer organization that meets in the music auditorium on the second Monday of each month except July and August. The Music Boosters (formerly the Music Patrons) have been a vital part of the school district for the past fifty- nine years.
Research has proven the importance of music education and its relation to a student’s academic achievement. The Music Boosters support the music program in the Wakefield-Marenisco School through their advocacy and fundraising.
The Music Boosters encourage donations of money, as well as musical instruments to support the music program. They have paid for repairs of instruments and have purchased new instruments. Past events financially supported by the Boosters include: Opera for the Young, band trips, and annual awards events. The boosters have purchased a marching band banner, and the “Cardy” mascot uniform to support band appearances. The group serves refreshments at music concerts and has a booth at the annual Christmas Fair.
