I was born and raised in Wakefield, Michigan, and have resided here my entire life. I attended the Central Elementary School in Wakefield through my sixth grade year, and then attended Wakefield High School graduating with honors in 1989. I participated in football, basketball, baseball and tennis while attending WHS. I received all conference honors in baseball and basketball, and was named to the All U.P. Tennis Team for two consecutive years. I went on to college at Northern Michigan University graduating in 1994 with a degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. I was hired in the Bessemer Area School District in 1995 and taught Title I, Junior High Algebra, and 5th grade in my three years there. In 1998, I was hired by the Wakefield School District as the Central Elementary School Head Teacher, Title I Director and Title I Teacher. After the closing of the Central School in 2001, I taught Title I and was the Title I Director for two years at the Wakefield School District. I continued my education at Northern Michigan University where I earned a Guidance Counseling Endorsement in 2003. Since then, I have been the Guidance Counselor while continuing to be the Title I Director and Title I Teacher, currently in the newly formed Wakefield-Marenisco School District. In 2007 I was hired as the Athletic Director of the district. I was married to Meghan Gerbig in 2004 and we have three sons. Jacob (8), Braylon (3), and Chase (born in April 2009). My hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, softball, dartball, and spending time with my wife and three sons. I am a huge Minnesota Vikings fan!!
